Marinette defeated Menominee 155 to 168
Menominee native Anna Axtell, a standout guard for Bay College in Escanaba, was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association All-American second team. As a freshman, Axtell averaged 20.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.9 steals per game while helping lead Bay College to a 20-10 record and a berth in the Great Lakes District B playoff semifinals. She hit 42 percent of her field goals and 34.8 percent of her 3 point shots. Axtell is one of seven players from Michigan, and the only one from the Upper Peninsula, to receive All-American accolades.
